Welcome to the culminating and most exciting segment of your Initial Teacher Preparation Program: the internship experience. You engaged in rigorous coursework, learned research-based, best practices and are now ready to apply what you learned in the real-world setting of the classroom. This invaluable experience is made possible through the collaborative work with our district partners, administrators and collaborating teachers.

SPRING 2018 INTERNSHIP APPLICATION IS NOW CLOSED

If you applied for a Spring 2018 Internship, a status email will be sent to your Knights email account by
October 20, 2017.

The email will contain detailed information for your next steps.

Internship I Students

Internship I Eligibility

To be eligible for Internship I, students must meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Students must be accepted into the College of Education and Human Performance at the time of application, possess an overall 2.5 GPA as well as a 2.5 GPA in professional preparation and specialization.
  • Eligibility for internship is also outlined on the Clinical Experiences website in the Student Teaching Handbook: A Guide for Internship and Clinical Practice. Please refer to your specific program requirements in the university catalog.
  • Have passed all parts of the General Knowledge Test (GKT) prior to the Internship I start date.
  • Meet course prerequisites as outlined by your program guide or through a Summer Contract. Please consult with an advisor for more information.

Each internship applicant is responsible for fully disclosing information pertaining to any previous arrests or adjudicated situations. Please make sure that you have carefully read the Disclosure of Background Information portion of the application before signing and submitting. If you have been fingerprinted for any purpose other than employment or military service, it must be indicated on the Disclosure of Background Information Form.

Applying for Internship I

The application period for Internship I is:

  • Fall Semester - January 15 to February 15
  • Spring Semester - August 15 to September 15

Access to the application can be found in the Announcement section (top of this page) during the application periods.

Registering for Internship I

Students are responsible for registering for the Internship course on myUCF. Instructions will be sent in your application status email, approximately 30 days after the application deadline.

In order to be registered, you must register yourself. The courses may appear closed; however, just register for it using the course number provided. Click all the way through until myUCF adds the appropriate internship course to your schedule. You will only be allowed to register for the internship section for which you have been approved. In order to properly register for the Internship I block/co-requisites, you must register for the Internship I course first, then register for the corresponding courses.

Dropping the Internship

If you decide to withdraw from or delay your internship after turning in your application, you must fill out a Drop Internship Form (available in the Office of Clinical Experiences - ED 110). Students are responsible for dropping the internship and any other related courses on myUCF. Refer to University calendar deadlines.

Internship II Students

Internship II Eligibility

To be eligible for Internship II, students must meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Complete general education/common program prerequisites.
  • Pass all parts of the General Knowledge Test (GKT).
  • Pass all parts of the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations prior to the start of Internship II for students who are registered as Catalog Year 2014 or beyond.
  • Achieve a “C” (2.0) or better in all prerequisite methods/courses.
  • Meet any special departmental requirements.
  •  Students must be accepted into the College of Education and Human Performance at the time of application, possess an overall 2.5 GPA (Early Childhood 2.75) as well as a 2.5 (Early Childhood 2.75) GPA in professional preparation and specialization.
  • Eligibility for internship is also outlined on the Clinical Experiences website in the Student Teaching Handbook: A Guide for Internship and Clinical Practice. Please refer to your specific program requirements in the university catalog.
  • Meet course prerequisites as outlined by your program guide or through a Summer Contract. Please consult with an advisor for more information.

Graduate Internship

Graduate Internship Eligibility

To be eligible for Graduate Internship*, students must meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Complete general education/common program prerequisites.
  • Possess a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
  • Have passed all parts of the General Knowledge Test (GKT).
  • Have achieved a "C" (2.0) or better in all prerequisite methods/courses.
  • Possess a minimum specialization GPA of 3.0.
  • Possess a minimum of professional preparation GPA of 3.0.
  • Meet any special departmental requirements.
  • Students must be accepted into the College of Education and Human Performance at the time of application, possess an overall 2.5 GPA as well as a 2.5 GPA in professional preparation and specialization.

Students have the option of choosing a 6 hour internship or a 3 hour internship depending on their preference and program requirements. A 6 hour (full time) internship lasts for one semester and a 3 hour (part time) internship lasts for two semesters. It is the student’s responsibility to reapply for the second semester of the 3 hour internship. Please consult your advisor when determining which internship you are eligible for and best fits your needs.

*Graduate Students who have been hired for an instructional position may be eligible for an On The Job Internship.

Collaborating Teachers

Certificate of Participation Requests

Supervising Teachers have the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Participation (COP) voucher for participation during the internship semester.

The COP is good for the matriculation fees of up to 6 credit hours of graduate work during one semester of study at a university within the state of Florida.  Each certificate is effective for 3 years, and can be issued only by request to the Office of Clinical Experiences.

Travel

University Clinical Coordinators are required to complete a UCF Voucher for Reimbursement of Traveling Expenses (TRV/PDF) to be in
compliance with the policy and procedures detailed by the UCF Finance and Accounting Travel Office. The TRV/PDF form located below must
be submitted to our office electronically. Handwritten and faxed TRV/PDF forms will not be accepted. Please submit the TRV/PDF monthly.
