Higher Education doctoral graduate Michael Callahan ’05, ’09 will be a triple Knight when he walks across the stage with nearly 4,000 students at the CFE Arena during commencement ceremonies this week.

Knightro has been Callahan’s longtime companion during his academic journey at UCF. He was the man behind Knightro’s costume during his undergraduate years and has been serving as the mascot’s head coach for the past 12 years.

Callahan has been balancing his career as The Burnett Honors College’s Director of Information Systems, classes and coursework, coaching, and his personal life as husband and father of three.

His love and commitment for Knightro resulted in publishing the children’s book “Hello, Knightro” with his wife Lauren ‘05 four years ago. The book may inspire students to become UCF Knights.

“It’s a good feeling to know you’re touching people in the community and making a positive change,” said Callahan. “Hopefully, the children who grew up reading the book will want to come here.”
