Initial Teacher Professional Preparation

The Graduate Certificate in Initial Teacher Professional Preparation is designed for students who have secured a teaching position, plan to obtain a teaching position, or have a temporary teaching certificate. The program prepares candidates to meet State Department of Education requirements through a sequence of professional core courses. The goal of this program is to enable educators to have successful teaching experiences in grades 6-12 classrooms. Courses will be offered throughout the academic year. With the exception of the special methods courses, certificate courses are offered every semester.

The Initial Teacher Professional Preparation (ITPP) graduate certificate program addresses some of the educational eligibility criteria for certification in the State of Florida. Individuals with a bachelor’s or higher degree in a content area and are currently teaching in a Florida public school, and who successfully complete the ITPP graduate certificate program, are eligible to apply for Florida teaching certification. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country, may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. Therefore, if you intend to pursue such credentialing in another state or elsewhere, it is advised that you to contact the applicable state or country credentialing authority to familiarize yourself with its specific requirements and determine if this program meets the applicable eligibility criteria. If you have additional questions in this regard, please contact edgrad@ucf.edu to assist you in your career planning.
